Duncan, Sherman & Company was a New York City banking firm.〔(The Morgans: Private International Bankers, 1854-1913 ) by Vincent P. Carosso 1987〕 It was established in 1852 by Alexander Duncan, Watts Sherman and William B. Duncan.〔(The Albany Law Journal - Volume 24 ) - Page 391 1881〕 It was the banker for the Hansom Cab Company. J.P. Morgan apprenticed at the firm before establishing his own.
